The successful story of Pif Paf Alimentos started in 1968 in Rio de Janeiro. Naturalized Brazilian Portuguese, Avelino Costa, bought the slaughterhouse Pif Paf. The largest live chicken wholesaler in the state. Avelino realized a change in the society and saw a business opportunity there. If there was a lack of time for women new to the job market to do household chores, in his view, there were plenty of ideas on how to make those consumers more practical: live animal should be substituted by frozen chicken.
The first steps towards the interior of Minas Gerais were taken through an agreement for the supply of birds with a cooperative in Viçosa. In 1972, due to its growth, the company was relocated to Visconde do Rio Branco, in Zona da Mata Mineira, contributing to the economic and social development of the region.
In 1974, Pif Paf Alimentos inaugurated the first animal feed factory, in Visconde do Rio Branco, and its first hatchery, in Pará de Minas, which were essential for the integrated production model in poultry farming where the breeding partners receive the chicks from the company, animal feed and technical assistance for raising and delivering the adult bird to the slaughterhouse.
